......................Profile..................MUZO from MUZOPHILE !!!!! ....................

Ladies & Gents we have a special treat for you today.

I have been wanting to profile MUZO for quite a while now and I finally got the courage to ask him and he said YES MOTHERFUCKERS !!!
WOO HOO !!!!!

*takes a breath*

So without further ado - coz I would only gush - here's the man himself !!

Again - we apologise for any weird formatting - I'm an amateur remember :)

Thankfully MUZO isn't - enjoy!

(2CW) Hey Muzo- thanks so much for coming onto the blog. How did your blog get started and what was the motivation behind it?

Hey Damien! Thank you, too, for having me on your blog! My blog got started kinda randomly. I created MUZOPHILE RADIO (
http://www.live365.com/stations/muzophile), which is a free 24/7 club music radio station on Live365. At first, I was working with just one or two DJs, now there are over 50. I created the blog to have a place to post playlists or ads for the DJs, that type of thing. But I have a strong interest in music news. In the beginning, I'd come across a breaking news story and be like 'Wow, no one else has this story up, maybe I'll put it on the blog!' Then when I noticed how many people were coming to my blog for that stuff, the lightbulb went off and so began the blog.

(2CW) With the advent of blogs, our coverage and examination of pop culture has all but exploded. Why do you think this is?

Blogs are typically very nichey - so it gives people places to go to find the info they are specifically interested in. No longer are we relegated to just listening to what's on the radio or watching TV...there is a whole world of options out there now.

(2CW) What are some of the blogs that you visit on a daily basis?

Oooh...a lot! There's a ton I like, but I really enjoy PopCrunch (http://www.popcrunch.com/), BestGayBlogs.com, Unzipped (http://blog.unzipped.net/), ONTD (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/) - and yes, even Perez Hilton. :) But I really like more DJ-centric and music-focused blogs - Ali's (http://www.jonnyalisblog.com/) is really good, as is The Best Damn Blog (http://best-damn-blog.blogspot.com/). For Muzo's naughty side, lol (these are NSFW!) Dudetube (http://www.dudetubeonline.com/), Cockenstein (http://blog.cockenstein.com/) and UnlimitedGayBlogs.com. On the left side of my blog, in the sidebar, I have a list of some of my favorite sites if you wanna check it out :)

(2CW) With the proliferation of the blog-verse, do you think that more mainstream media have taken a hit, or does it simply enhance the existing media?

I work in mainstream news, and I absolutely know the mainstream media has taken a hit by blogs - especially the good ones. Bloggers aren't typically restricted by a corporate structure and editorial approval process. For example, when a story breaks, a blogger posts it - the word is out. Whereas at a magazine, the story breaks, it needs to be written, edited, approved, go through the chain of command and so on. Mainstream sites are really being challenged by the blogosphere for sure.

(2CW) Now, speaking of profiles, you've been fortunate to interview some amazing people. Who were some of your favourite interviews and why?

Oh, thanks! Doing the interviews are one of my favorite aspects of Muzoworld lol. I enjoyed all the interviews I've done - each person was really interesting to me. My tone is a little more direct than other sites. For example, I want to know what they like in bed, what they like to do on a date, etc. I ask the stuff I think people really wanna know lol I especially enjoyed my interviews (
http://blog.muzophile.com/categories/0Q%20and%20As.aspx) with RuPaul, Amber, Kristine W, Zelma Davis, Pepper Mashay, Nina Flowers and Bebe Zahara Benet from 'Drag Race' and so on and so on - oh, and of course, the DJs and porn stars (http://blog.muzophile.com/2009/03/09/the-muzophile-hot-guys-roundup.aspx); I find those interviews so fascinating!

(2CW) Who were the - shall we say - more challenging interviews :) ?

Everyone who agrees to do an interview knows what they are getting themselves into, lol, so they usually go pretty well :)

(2CW) Over the last 20years, DJ's have gone from being dudes in the background to stars unto themselves with a culture and following all of their own. How did this happen? & Who are some of your favourites?

That is a really good question. I think a lot of it has to do with the Internet and exposure. For example, now DJs can create Websites and fan bases online, which they weren't able to do before. So you get to know more about the man behind the turntable, listen to their music, be exposed to all their news, interests, etc. - and maybe even talk with them! As for favorites, all the guys on MUZOPHILE RADIO. :)

(2CW) As I am someone outside of the culture, do you think the celebrity status of DJ's are earned? For those outside the business it would seem unusual given that computers allow almost anyone the ability to mix and program a full set of music.

I think that technology has made it far easier for anyone to try mixing - but like any skill or art form, some are better than others...and everyone has their own style. So I'd say the reason some may be more 'famous' than others is that they have a style more people identify with, as well as a fan base of people that identify with them and so on. In my experience, it seems a lot of the successful DJs are also good promoters, or work with people who help spread the word about what they are doing.

(2CW) Now as an out and proud porn lover, I do love the porn interviews on your site (Chad Manning (http://blog.muzophile.com/2009/03/31/porn-star-chad-manning-talks-up-new-love-damian-rios-issues-with-titan-studios-what-he-likes-in-bed-it-may-be-illegal-more.aspx) ANYTIME please) - why do you think that Porn appears to be out there in the public consciousness much more than it used to be? Are we more open about it?

Well thank you! And I agree Chad rocks, and he's a super cool dude, too! The interviews with the porn stars kinda started off randomly also. I had never seen any of his movies, but I came across Damien Crosse (
http://blog.muzophile.com/2008/10/09/porn-superstar-damien-crosse-talks-up-new-love-his-new-adult-film-studio-staghommecom--and-what-he-really-likes-in-bed.aspx) online a few years ago and just thought he was the finest thing - and still do! He was in some ads for Peter Rauhofer, who is a big DJ/remixer, so that was the tie-in. I figured, 'Well, if I can get this hot guy to interview with me, it is still sorta music-related' lol But I really just wanted a chance to ask him questions about stuff I was curious about - things you may not know otherwise from just watching his movies. I figured, if I wanna know these things, I'm probably not alone. And he agreed to it, so I was thrilled.

(2CW) What sort of porn do you get into?

My favorite porn...are you ready for an exclusive? I've never told this before publicly - but I don't watch porn. It really does nothing for me. I prefer to be watched. We'll leave it at that :) Granted, I have seen plenty of hot porn clips online, so I'm no pollyanna! lol My favorite? I love all that Damien and Francesco do at their studio StagHomme (
www.staghomme.com) - they bring a lot of creativity and personality to their pics, and of course they are hot as hell. I also love the guys at Raging Stallion. And I'm a big fan of Jeff at STR8cam.com.

2CW - who isnt a fan of Jeff WOOF !

(2CW) Who are you favourites in porn?

All the guys I've interviewed.

(2CW) When you go out to a bar, (if you do) what sort of social scene do you like to be in?

I'm a dancer-type - I love the big clubs that play the type of music I play on my station - vocal house, pop, that type of stuff. I'm definitely not a sit-around-in-a-bar type of guy...I like to move! But I live in Los Angeles, so I usually go out in West Hollywood or Silverlake.

(2CW) Do you think that the bar of popular culture has been lowered with people like Speidi and Jon and Kate? Are we dumbing ourselves down?

Nah - there will always be stories about people like Speidi and Jon and Kate, so I guess that means we are already dumbed down?? ha! But you can pick and choose what you follow. If you read my blog, you will notice I almost never cover stuff like that. I usually stray from 'gossipy' stuff. I could care less what Britney looks like coming out of Starbucks in her jean shorts with her weave half-on. I try to get stuff up you may not find in other places - or at least try to get stuff up before everyone else does lol

(2CW) Are we still making good films? Or are we dumbing that down as well?

Films...hmm, good question. I almost never go to movies, so I'm not sure. I'm a music guy :)

(2CW) Do you do any of your own photography?

lol, unfortunately, yes - but always looking for help! :)

(2CW) What are your thoughts on the gay backlash against President Obama?

I don't really understand it - did gay people honestly think he were gonna get support from him? I really don't think so, so I'm not sure why this is such a shock. A president elect with no history of support for gays said what he needed to say to get into office - that's politics.

(2CW) Are we being too impatient? Do you think America is ready for this level of cultural change?

Don't even get me started on this. I think in 10 years, when gay marriage is legal, people are gonna look back at this era and think 'Really, even in the late 2000s, gay people weren't allowed to get married? That's wack.' The same way we look back now at when women couldn't vote, interracial marriage was illegal, black and white people drank from separate water fountains, etc. It's all evolution, and we are progressing in the right direction, it's just a shame it's taking so long.

(2CW) Is there anyone in your life right now?

Yes, my dog, who I've had for 13 years, my oversized ego and the voices in my head. As far as a partner? Nah, I've been single for years. I've got a lot going on, which makes it hard to date. Why, are you offering? ;)

(2CW) What's next for MUZO the man and MUZO the blog?

Good question! I just keep moving forward, I absolutely love what I do and working with all the cool DJs, porn stars, artists, you name it - cool, fun stuff comes up every day, and it's hella fun for me, so I keep plugging along. :)
