This is why unions were formed. To protect workers from thes kinds of inequities and conditions. The last job I had was unionized and I was constantly calling on my union for help and was deemed a trouble maker by management. I'm so glad I'm out of the work force now and disabled.
I don't know what to tell you but if I were you I'd hang in there since you do like the place. Nothing is ever perfect.
MAZEL TOV!Stanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11165264073811444835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-78197262294173331042011-09-23T02:30:04.196+10:002011-09-23T02:30:04.196+10:00Damien, I'm glad you are thinking on this and ...Damien, I'm glad you are thinking on this and not making any rash decisions, that's probably the key to finding a good answer. It seems like you have many things about your current job you like, but a few people that you don't like at all. They happen to be too close for comfort. I think the question you really want to know the answer to is how long can you stand their pressuring and inane expectations. Start looking for a new job, get your resume updated, and start to network more while you figure that out.Kyle Leachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369076904327452139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-69325770165117355092011-09-22T00:19:07.804+10:002011-09-22T00:19:07.804+10:00I was in a mood. I understand that you work very hard and that is good. Maybe examine when and why you lose that focus. You could probably continue to work at that hyper productive level for a good time longer than the usual day, and really please the bosses. Wouldn't that be wonderful?Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09787091044579213649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-61308078395425682052011-09-21T19:24:18.045+10:002011-09-21T19:24:18.045+10:00All of your comments have given me a lot to think ...All of your comments have given me a lot to think about.

Sue - I don't now whether to thank you or bark at you for that slap.Damienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14413086752729344695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-84112748320492689862011-09-21T10:44:54.264+10:002011-09-21T10:44:54.264+10:00Tough call. I like what I do and finished working today around 8PM - its a busy time of year for me. Longer work days have never really bothered me, but feeling like I'm being treated unfairly gets under my skin and is tough to shake.

I'm not sure what to tell you or if you were venting and not really looking for suggestions. I'd never tell someone to stay some place they don't like or quit a place because of long hours - that's a personal decision. Do they there?

It took you so long to find this job and in the past you have said that you loved it and your coworkers. Has that changed?

At my jobs here in the US, some overtime was expected. I would routinely work at least an hour over an 8 hour day and that was expected. I loved my job and thought nothing of it.

I never compared what did to what others [slackers] did. That is low and not worth my contempt. I just kept my nose to the grindstone and took the highroad.

If you work as I did, no one will look without favor on your sick leave.

I worked towards a promotion and got many. I'm sorry, but you sound lazy! Clock watching! 7.6 hours! What is ".6" hour? How many minutes is that?

I think you need a fresh look at this job and what it means to you Damien. The job market is very tight right now and from where I stand you are lucky to have one at all.Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09787091044579213649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-44757112307700536762011-09-19T17:58:07.158+10:002011-09-19T17:58:07.158+10:00sleep on it and ask yourself if this is what you w...sleep on it and ask yourself if this is what you want.Wonder Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16723949771552274515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-88881317083729523242011-09-19T13:29:23.288+10:002011-09-19T13:29:23.288+10:00That is the hard issue QH - I do like what I do an...That is the hard issue QH - I do like what I do and the people (With two exceptions) are really good.

*sigh* lol

Life does like to throw us little curve balls doesnt it.Damienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14413086752729344695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6384978972968180391.post-14036172933185221642011-09-19T13:08:49.549+10:002011-09-19T13:08:49.549+10:00That is a hard one!
