.........Fitness Tip of the Week................

From the tame personal trainer Nathan :)

If you people are nice to me Ill show him one day.

This comes from Mack in New York.

"I am worried about building muscle and not losing fat. Should I be doing high reps with low weights? Or - Should I be doing low reps with high weights? I am more concerned with losing the fat than building a lot of muscle. I do 3 cardio sessions a week."

Now Mack with what you are trying to achieve as far as fat loss goes - the more muscle mass you have the more potential for burning fat there will be. What I would recommend is a cardiovascular program that has you building up to and sustaining 5-7 days per week of moderate intensity (aerobic) exercise.

This could be coupled with a weight training regime with a rep range of 8-12 for 3-5 sets (hypertrophy range) no less - no more. If the weight is outside those guidelines it is too heavy, or on the other hand too light. And as always include a stable, maintainable eating plan. Hope this sheds some light for you.
