Seriously - a friend of mine who knows I worked in Sexual Health - mainly as an education and support counsellor to sex workers - wants to have the experience of a sex worker and asked me the Do's and Don'ts.
My friend is a HOT HOT HOT man. But he has no life with a career that takes 13 or more hours out of every day. He - like many others - see a Sex Worker as a viable alternative to dating whilst still being able to satisfy some base needs.
So here are the things you CAN and CAN'T do when visiting a sex worker.
You can....
- Say NO - if the worker who turns up is NOTHING like the description they or the Agency gave you.
- Expect the things you requested during the initial phone call.
- Expect cleanliness. If a worker turns up smelling - it means they haven't showered OR they have an STI - really.
- Expect to be treated like a person - engaging the services of a sex worker does not mean you are worth less than those who pick up from a dirty night club. In fact - you are probably more discerning.
- Expect the worker to be honest regarding what they WILL and WON'T do.
- Stop the booking at any time if you are feeling uncomfortable. But remember - once they are there and naked - you forfeit all the money.
- Expect to pay UP FRONT before any article of clothing comes off. Remember - you are paying for their TIME.
- Expect to have someone who is actually very intelligent and capable of good conversation as well as the sexual stuff - most male sex workers are tertiary qualified with an IQ above normal.
- Force a worker to do what they do not want to - That is RAPE - even if they are a sex worker.
- Treat a worker like a sex toy and then bitch about the crappy service. They are PEOPLE after all.
- Expect a worker to go overtime for free - they are a PAID service after all.
- Assault - sexually or physically - a worker. It is illegal and they WILL prosecute. PLUS most will be able to kick your arse 19 ways before you even blink.
- Expect a worker to turn up clean and showered - whilst you do not. Be a person - have a shower - swish some mouthwash - and make sure you wipe your arse.
- Ask to see a workers drivers license as proof of ID - they have an expectation of discretion and privacy and so do you.
- Call a worker "Whore - bitch - slut - trash" unless you have negotiated that beforehand and are willing to cough up extra for fetish play. How would you like your bank manager to call you those things?

I mean its all good common sense really - but I'd never have thought of it really.
I spent several years in sexual health and gay men's health - I met a LOT of sex workers and learnt of the industry to an almost INTIMATE knowledge - I should write a book LOL
Until I discovered Naughty Reviews I was a crazy guy like your friend. Sometimes a guy just has to work a lot, there is no reason to give up the pleasures of the physical because you have responsibilities.

Hmmm, stupid me - I guess I never kind of put the working in sexual health thing together with knowing the ins and outs of correct etiquette, but I guess it makes sense really.

Sexual health does NOT necessarily equal sex workers.
This was a great post. This is literally the first time I've seen sex workers viewed as a legitimate business transaction...lol.
This is good advice. I wonder how many people have actually paid for a sex worker? I'm going to ask this as a question on my blog.
