...........when you drink tea..... but when did we get so RUDE?!?!?!?!?!?!
People who know me know that the ONE big thing for me is civility.
I grew up in a low low working class home with very little money, but my Mother instilled excellent manners in her kids. She used to tell me that class is never about money, it's about manners.
When did we lose it?
When did we become this rude, obnoxious, trashy, gutter mouth society?????
Have I had a head injury for the last ten years????
Here's what bugs me about now manners......
- People driving RIGHT on your bumper.
- People who have never heard of PLEASE or THANK YOU.
- People who steal - or attempt to - steal your car park.
- People who beep at you whilst you are at a zebra crossing LETTING people cross.
- People who don't give way on round-a-bouts.
- People who talk over you and never let you finish a sentence - this one gets me angry to the point I want to pick up a chair and crush their skull in. Yup - I'm a keeper.
- People who are right in your face and have NO sense of personal space.
I miss my trips to Savannah - southern civility was almost like a ballet in manners *sigh*

I'll go with your list for now... If I think too hard about it I'll do my head in.
Despite the fact I come across as short-tempered little prick at times I've at least got a handle on the manners thing! What's the dealio with everyone else?
Mutt - I could have gone on and on and on...................
I have NO clue what the fuck is missing from those people who have NO manners.
Maybe they were dropped as a baby?
I think they should be slapped.
My peeve? 'Friends' who tell you (in all seriousness!) that you're a relationship dead end and would only be good for short term trysts.
Nothing like kicking a girl when she's down!
One of my pet peevees are those people who are in a conversation with me and stop mid sentence to answer their cell phone. Is any phone call THAT important. Or people who never say thank you when you hold a door open for them. or the people...... oh, I could also go on and on!
What bugs me the worst is people who say they will meet you someplace and then stand you up. It means nothing to them; so rude!
"southern civility was almost like a ballet in manners"
That's poetry and I love the sentiment!
I've got a few peeves about Toronto living:
1. People will come out of the door of a store and walk right across your path ... like there's no one else there
2. People will walk 3 abreast on a sidewalk taking up the whole thing, coming toward you ... they expect you to move onto the street for them
3. Subway manners
- trying to push on before letting people off
- when it's jam packed, instead of trying to get closer to the doors a few stops ahead, they wait till the last minute and then push through
- coughing or sneezing in your face without covering their mouths ... GROSS!
AND a whole bunch more but I don't want to be totally rude and take up all your space. ;o{)
Great post, and I guess this is a world wide phenomenon. :o(
I have to agree there are an incredibly large number of rude people walking and driving around Dunedin these days. I'm off to Savannah in four days. I'll say 'hi' to the Lady Chablis for you!
