My city is a river city and the Brisbane River really does define the city.

Wow Wednesday - Brisbane Southbank

Southbank was created from the previous site of Expo 88.

It's gone through a couple of facelifts - like any good girl - but was eventually redesigned into a combination residential / commercial / parklands precinct.

It has an amazing feel to the area.  I was very lucky to work in a building right next to Southbank for a while and it has an amazing array of restaurants, cafes, and people spaces.  I loved it.  I would live there IF I could afford it.

Thankfully there are many public areas that were designed and incorporated into it. 

I love the area.  Amazing boardwalk.  Great picnic areas and wonderful greenery.

Banyo - Where I Live

Banyo is a suburb on the north side of Brisbane and is my home suburb :)

It's a cute, up and coming area that is extremely green with lots of trees and some wonderfully preserved homes.  It is also only a 20min drive to either the CBD or the airport so it's a great location for commuters.

I like it because it is a diverse suburb of Muslims, senior citizens, young families, quite a few gay men and lesbians and is a really relaxed place to live.

People seem friendly and I like that :) Very much a "neighbourhood" feel.

Good Morning BrizVegas...

My State Is On Fire....

Actually there are MANY bushfires currently burning in Australia.  Sadly, the conditions this year are such that this really only the beginning of a long Summer of flame and smoke.

My home city of Brisbane awoke to a shroud of smoke covering us from the fires on Bribie Island not far from us......
