Today's Man is Mr Idris Elba.  A stunningly handsome man who needs no further descriptors.

Though I can't *imagine* why the production team of Star Trek chose to hide him under VERY ugly prosthetics.

Alfre Woodard - Lily in Star Trek : First Contact

Zoey Saldana - Lieutenant Nyota Uhura - Star Trek (Reboot)

And the one who started it all... the always elegant and eloquent Ms Nichelle Nichols ...

(In the novels she becomes both a Captain and an Admiral!)

 

 

UPDATE - I didn't initially include Whoopi Goldberg because I am not too fond of the somewhat weird way she has gone these days.  But she WAS very good as Guinan in Star Trek : The Next Generation.

RIP .... Leonard Nimoy ...

My heart is heavy writing this. 

Leonard / Spock was such a part of my life being a big fan of Trek. 

My heart is heavy and I am sad.  This man/character had a profound effect on popular culture and myself. 

So I ask you ... please be upstanding, an actor has exited the stage. 

May your spirit continue to Live Long And Prosper Sir. It was agreeable to have you with us for so long.

May 20 is the official birthday of my favourite Captain in Star Trek ........ Captain Kathryn Elizabeth Janeway ...

Star Trek Wrath of Khan .... That Chest.....

 Star Trek the Wrath of Khan is my FAVOURITE ST movie of all time - even better than First Contact in my not so humble opinion ;)

And the glorious Ricardo Montalban did a beautifully nuanced job of the genetically engineered sociopath that was Khan.

And after doing some research - and talking to some people in the Industry - yes, the chest was real.
Apparently Mr Montalban continued his fitness regime right up to the progression of his MS.......

Love the movie.  Loved the man.  Loved the chest.  Love Khan ;)

 

And this was Mr Montalban in the Original Series - so handsome....
