Today on 2 Cents we continue our look at the bloggers behind the blogs.
Today we have Tom from Gay Sky Hooker ( link in sidebar ) - a fellow aussie also living in a strange land away from home.
Those of you who read his blog know that he is completely over the top and I make NO promises as to the content of these questions. There is absolutely no introduction I could do that would do him justice :)
So......... buckle up - it could be a bumpy ride :)
(Q) Welcome to 2 Cents Tom. How did your blog come about and can you tell us all what a Gay Sky Hooker actually is?
6 years ago I found myself home alone with the house to myself for 6 days as my ex was away on a business trip. Naturally, I went about planning 6 days of downloading porn and touching myself inappropriately as our sex life had gone down the shitter in recent months...... As I google searched 'gay porn' and 'felching' and 'chocolate starfish;, I happened across a word I was unfamiliar with ..... 'BLOG'.
At that stage, the word blog was a recently coined word and they were a new phenomena sweeping the interwebs. I thought it was a fascinating concept, amateur individuals creating their own websites for free and diarising their lives.
I'm a whore of attention and couldn't resist, so my curiosity got the better of me and Gay Sky Hooker was born. The title is a cheeky reference to my then career as a long haul flight attendant, a gay man trapped in a metal tube in the sky being forced to dish out niceties and pleasures to random strangers for 14 hours at a time.
It was also a thinly veiled reference to my constant efforts to join the mile high club, which involved shenanigans such as me accidentally falling into the laps of the hottest males passengers when there was turbulence. Gay Sky Hooker was originally going to be a blog about being a horny flight attendant but it morphed into a blog about anything and everything with a naughty streak.

(Q) Now you've lived in Australia and you are now in Dublin. I spent 6 months working in a company that was Irish with a lot of funny Irish boys and girls - but why Dublin?
I am actually Dublin born! My family is Irish, and a year after I was born in Dublin, my parents immigrated to Sydney, Australia because of the economic depression in Ireland.
Potatoes were scarce and dentists were exorbitantly expensive and my parents couldn't bear the thought of raising buck toothed children with iron deficiences and hideous jaundice-esque skin. It was a common experience for young Irish parents in the late seventies to pack up and seek a better life in Australia which at that stage, was actively encouraging Anglo Europeans to migrate (whilst of course, dissing all the others who weren't white).
My parents built a life in Sydney with my sisters and me but alas, they got divorced 20 years ago. My Mum and younger sister returned to Dublin, and my Dad and 2 older sisters remained in Sydney. I have since been going back and forth for a few years at a time making the most of my Australian and EU passports (I am told I'm a lucky thing indeed to have dual nationality!)

(Q) Do you miss Australia? Where did you live in Oz?
I miss Australia every day but to be honest, I also love love living in Europe. Sure, Australia has wonderful beaches, lots of space, sunny weather and men with an automated need to take off their shirts as much as possible.... but I have always felt a little far flung from the world at large.
When you live in and grow up in Australia, you constantly feel that you live in the arse end of nowhere, which is a frustrating thing for an intrepid person like myself with a love of travel and seeing new cultures and fucking new men with funny accents. Australia is always there waiting for me when I' ready to return and settle, but for now, I'm happy in Europe.... after all, it's got the best proximity to my favourite event in the whole world, 'The Eurovision Song Contest' which I attend every year. DON'T JUDGE MEW HATERS! I'M A COOL CAT!
Specifically in Oz, my hometown is a place called Hornsby in the northern outskirts of metropolitan Sydney. It is full of pregnant teenagers and junkies and bible bashers, all very trailer park.......... it is where I nurtured the elegance that I am imbued with today.

(Q) How do you find being an Aussie in another country?
People generally have a liking of Australians and the Australian lifestyle.
In Ireland, it is perhaps because of our massively popular exports such as 'Home and Away' and 'Neighbours', TV shows which play to the images of Australia with a relaxed lifestyle, golden beaches and bronzed buff men.
I have also noticed that there is a countering view of us.... that we are arrogant and have a very high opinion of ourselves, which is probably borne of the competitiveness that Australians are known for, particularly in sport. I've never personally experienced any backlash as an Aussie living in Ireland but then again, I'm an Irishman at heart so I guess I have a unique hybrid quality.
I also have a mongrel accent, from my living in Paris and London - people often don't think I'm Australian..... more often than not, people think I'm South African!?

(Q) You recently went to the Tina Turner concernt and it looked like a lot of fun. How amazing is that woman considering she is what...... 65 now?
Tina is actually 70 now! And she was bloody SENSATIONAL! I have always loved Tina Turner, her poise, her voice and her fiestiness as a live prformer. I'm rather a tragic queen when it comes to music and Tina fits the stereotype perfectly. I have 5 concert ambitions in life
1 - Barbra Streisand - Accomplished
2 - Shirley Bassey - Accomplished
3 - Tina Turner - Accomplished (se my blog for pictures of my elegant Tina Turner wig!)
4 - Whitney Houston - I'm praying to the Babay Jebus every night that she doesn't relapse before her comeback
5 - ARETHA! The Queen of Soul, my favourite. I also send prayers ever night praying that her aeorta doesn't buckle under a chicken bone before I get to see her live.

(Q) You just turned 30. For me is was a weight off my shoulders. None of the silly expectations you pile on top of yourself during your 20's. How are you feeling?
I have dubious feelings about turning 30. I'm not where I thought I would be at this point in my life, I'm recently single after a 6 year monogamous relationship, I've sold my home after we broke up, I'm still not a practising lawyer, and I've had a tumultuous 12 months which have stalled me in my efforts to have achieved the personal goals I set for myself in my mid twenties.
It's good and bad. I enjoy the process of getting older, but I'm also mega conscious of personal failings and and have become become harder on myself because of them.

(Q) You're also studying to be a lawyer. This is an interesting step from flight attendant to lawyer. What prompted the change? Were you studying law before flying the friendly skies?
Talk about a quantum leap! I was studying part time for a BA when I was flying and I Double Majored in International Relations and Justice Studies. When I graduated, I felt that my calling was to be a man with a legitimate reason to wear a wig in the streets at 9am. I felt that my calling was to be a Barrister!
In all seriousness, I do love the the intellectual exercise that is law and I hope to build a career as a barrister in the future. I always loved flying, but after almost 7 years of it, I had an epiphany one night. It was 4am, we were still about 4 hours from landing in London on a 15 hour sector from Hong Kong, a child had vomited in my lap, I had awful jet lag...... and I looked around the cabin and thoguht to myself 'there must be something better than this. I dont want to be doing this when I' 65'........... And so I cracked the whip and enrolled in law school.

(Q) Tell us about Monkey - the cutest side kick seen since Chris O'Donnell played Robin.
Ahh. my beloved Monkey! He is my sidekick in life.
Monkey was a present to me on my 18th birthday, which happened to fall on the night of The Academy Awards. My friends had arranged a surprise Oscars dress up party and one of my presents was monkey.... My friends have always told me that I look a bit like a primate, and they thought Monkey was a nice reflection of me. Others would be insulted but not me, I adored him and he has been all around the world with me much like a garden gnome.
We have also procreated over the years and I now have 14 Monkeys but Monkey 1 is still my favourite (I'm not telling you who is the bottom)

(Q) As someone living with Depression and all its associated neuroses and manias - I'm interested to hear more about your Panic Disorder. We've read about it on your blog but I don't quite understand it. Do you mind telling me more? How does it affect your everyday life?
Yes, I wrote about my Panic Attack Disorder for the first time ever very recently and it elicited quite an interesting response from my readers.
I'd never addressed it in my blog before because it is a part of my life that I don't enjoy and I didn't want people to think I was a freak. However, there was a cathartic experience that came with writing about it, it felt good to address it in a simple informative way. The crux of it is that I suffer form epic panic attacks which are largely controlled by meds nowadays. It has its origins in Anxiety Disorder and my attacks are triggered by random events which are normally accompanied by a heightened state of anxiety.
I mentioned having a tumultuous 12 months above, where I split with my partner and had a number of very stressful personal life events to contend with, and they exacerbated my panic issues. My everyday life is largely unaffected by it as I take medicine for it, but I do often live with a little bit of silent fear of when a panic attack may strike!

(Q) Lets get to the smoking :) - WHEN are you going to give that disgusting habit up mister??? I think we would ALL be happier to hear that you will live beyond your forties :)
NEVER! I love smoking, I thoroughly enjoy it:) Oh alright, I know it is bad for me, and I actually do want to quit smoking at some stage. Right now at this juncture in my life is not the time, believe me..... I need my ciggies for now!

(Q) Your blog is pretty heavy on bum-bum action (as you put it) - and you really do put yourself out there regarding your own sexual habits and fun. Ten years ago this would have been completely shocking - but we seem roll with this much more easily these days. Are we just getting more pervy as a society or are we just more open about sex?
What do you think? PS Hows that big black friend of yours? It scares the hell out of me :)
Oh I love the cock I do! I'm a horny little bastard and an unapologetic one too hehe!
I've never felt self conscious writing about my sexcapades or sex at large, I think we all have a healthy interest in sex. I think that people keep reading my blog because amongst the sexual shenanigans I also put on what I call my 'serious hat' from time to time and write about more serious issues, such as the plight of gay men and women living in the Middle East living in fear or persecution and execution because of their sexuality.
I don't think we are more pervy as a cyber community, I just think that sex is more readily available on the internet and that this has led to us being less easily shocked. As for my big black friend, my huge black dildo I call 'Obama', he's great thanks! I've just made a home vid of me riding him and I'm finding it such a turn on watching it lol............. does that make me bad?!

(Q) So what's in the future for young Tom?
Hopefully some romance, a new long term relationship, lots of butt fun, a barrister wig and probably a few rashes 'down there'..............................:)
