She's just a woman - yes, she had some great songs and amazing albums - I was rocking along with her in the 90's at clubs after I came out - but lately ................. shrug.................... she's tired.

First of all I do not understand the «fan» thing. I love and admire the work of several artists but I do not care about their lives. An artist is what an artist does only.
Second, the world of pop music is shallow and should stay that way. It's greatness comes exactly from that. When it tries to «send out a message» is when it gets ridiculous. What kind of person has epiphanies from pop music?
Third, I also do not get the Madonna obsession. I do not have a thing against her as a person or as an artist. But there is much more people deserving the epitaph of Diva, take Amanda Lear for example. Older than Madonna and looking like she is her younger chic sister.
Fourth, people say that Madonna did great things for the gay community. I am not sure that. It seems an elliptical question: if she did not pleased the gay community that were a great part of her public, would she continue to be famous? But even admitting that she did, what is her contribution compared to people like Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, Serge Gainsbourg, Gore Vidal or Harvey Milk?
Not I might be needing Mac's protection program...
