.......Australia Is Hung....................

.............. Australian went to the voting box yesterday to decide our new federal government....

........With the backlash of the recent removal of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in a leadership stoush - basically he stabbed his most loyal cabinet minister in the back - my home state of Queensland did it's usual "I'm voting for stoopid" pout vote and with that we now have a hung Parliament which means we could have to go back to the polls ALL over again if the major parties can't negotiate some sort of deal with the independent members just voted in.

.......Here are pics of me and the member of Brisbane the Hon Arch Bevis - he may or may not keep his seat depending on last minute vote counting and preferences.....

...He has been an exceptional member for Brisbane and one of the few politicians on either side of the fence who has been keenly active at the local level... There are probably 2 or 3 politicians on either side of The House who are like this - it is a SAD indictment on those elected to represent PEOPLE !! ..

.............Oy vey - what a mess.................

Just a reflection me thinks that the two corporate parties need to get their acts together because we are all sick of the silly schoolyard bickering over heavily risk minimized policy making....
For goodness sake... the palava and debate over wether or not there should be a debate just shows who is leading this country...The Media...Giving this more air time than the candidates and their policies themselves...
And the media also need to realise that there are more shades to Australian Politics than just Red or Blue...This ain't a presidential run...(Yet)

See you back at the Polling Booth real soon....

Your Royal Highness - You said it sister - perfect analysis of what was wrong with both the campaigns, the politicians AND the role of the media.

The other alternative is that democracy might actually start to work... In that no one has a majority in either house and if serious policy is developed after true consultation with all members then real negotiation and debate and the making of truly visional change might just be the thing we are all looking for...
