.....2 Stupid........Burqa Banned...

So France has put it's Burqa Ban into effect. Those who now wear it can be fined / imprisoned / or given the option of education in "how to live in a civilised society".

Hmmm I guess the events of the forties have pretty much been forgotten.

So stupid.......

it is stupid

you think so?

I do - there are a million different ways to battle terrorism and to promote the rights of women - banning an object of someones religion is not part of that million.

If the American Congress told American Christians that they were never allowed to wear the cross around their neck the population would revolt - and rightly so.

It is REPREHENSIBLE in the extreme that France has done this. It has clearly not learnt the lessons of the second World War.

BTW Adam - good on you for asking and challenging a post :) - i enjoy that and makes me rethink my thinking - and that rocks :)

I must admit a religion that demands this from women scares me to death. Of course it is not the right way to ban something what we Christians think is wrong.

Adam - understand, I do not agree with the Burqa - but I agree with their right to wear it.

It's a fine line to walk.... but our principles often are.

I don't like that they have to wear the burqa, but it is not my place or the governments to tell them NOT to...

It is about the dumbest law I've ever heard.
Now, ban Halloween masks, wigs, New year's Eve masks, opera glasses, fake noses, sunglasses......on and on I could go.

Oh Bob I know - it really does show how xenophobic France has become in recent years.

WOW, I guess I am in the minority!
First off, they are totally demeaning to women. And as far as I know, only the very hard line radical's insist that women wear them.
