..........Former Australian Olympic Swimmer Daniel Kowalksi Comes Out........
...............story here - via the always informative Towleroad .
I will never forget how he got the Olympic was it Silver? Bronze? behind the "Darling 'Milk Man' of the event" in the 1500m early in his career, and was completely ignored by the Media covering the show at the time...
It must have been pretty soul destroying for him, putting in all that training and effort to be totally overlooked in that way. I know I felt really gutted for him and angry at the time, and still havn't forgiven the media commentators...
What a contrast in his letter and Ricky Martin's. That man needs some counseling.
BTW - it strikes me as a bit curious that an Australian blogger would have source an American blog for a story about an Australian in Australia. Just saying.

Interesting - not sure who he is, I gotta admit - time to google!
For anyone in the public eye, is brave to come forward -- kudos to him!
Gosh.... who would have guessed?
Poor Daniel was always the bridesmaid in such a difficult event and the media never really gave him the Kudos that he deserved througout his career.
He has always been one of my fave swimmers regardless...
Congratulations Dan....
Brahm - he is worth googling - a great athlete and a very patriotic swimmer - very honourable in how he presented himself to the world. Very classy.
Princess - Mine too - and yes, he was always the dependable third leg in the relay but never a star in his own right which I thought was always sad.
I read the article - he has made the right choice given that it was affecting his well being!
